Hello everyone, and welcome to our very first blog post. I'm Dan, the Founder of Companion Grove. Thanks for taking a read. Get involved and comment.
I’ll be honest with you—when I first started this journey, I wanted to do everything, all at once. My head was full of ideas and my heart was heavy with a single realisation: too many of our older neighbours are sitting at home, staring at the same four walls, feeling completely invisible.
It broke my heart then, and it’s what gets me out of bed now. And the journey has just begun.
Let's be Frank about Social Care
We need to talk about the reality of Adult Social Care. Too often, it feels clinical and rushed. But the real "emergency" isn't always medical—it’s the growing number of our elderly neighbours facing crushing isolation.
I am on a crusade to change that. I want to ensure there is a real, warm alternative for people who find themselves lost after being admitted to hospital, or for those who have lost a loved one and find the silence at home too loud. We support neighbours whose families live too far away to pop in for a cuppa or help with the bits and bobs around the house.
We Aren't Corporate. We are Community.
I knew from day one that Companion Grove had to be different. We aren't here to chase big corporate goals or report to distant stakeholders. We are a Community Interest Company (CIC). That’s a fancy way of saying that our "profit" is put into our Mission.
We are about social impact. We are about making life a little brighter for our local neighbours.
Our bespoke Services—from help around the home to special day trips—are designed to support that goal. But I’ll be frank: I can’t do this alone.
Building Momentum
The good news is, we are growing! We’ve recently joined Support Staffordshire, and I am hard at work building our community network. It might feel slow some days, but we are moving. Momentum is picking up, and the Grove is starting to bloom.
Every time someone joins us for a "good natter" or books a companion visit, we get one step closer to a community where no one has to feel invisible.
