Our Commitment to our Community
Targeting Loneliness
Companion Grove CIC is specifically established to benefit adults aged 65 and over in Staffordshire who are experiencing social isolation, loneliness, or barriers to community engagement. This includes individuals who may have limited access to social opportunities due to age, disability, health conditions, or personal circumstances. We aim to support them by providing inclusive companionship, group outings, community day centre facilities, and meaningful activities designed to improve wellbeing, build connections, and enhance their quality of life
The Staffordshire County Council's Older People Adult Social Care Commissioning Strategy for 2024-2029 highlights key needs of older people in Staffordshire, including the expected growth in the age 65+ population by 18% in the next ten years, and a significant number of people aged 65-74 reporting feelings of loneliness. The strategy also emphasizes the importance of older people staying connected to friends and the local community. Our services directly address these critical needs.
Our Funding Model: Sustaining Community Benefit
As a Community Interest Company (CIC), Companion Grove CIC is a not-for-profit social enterprise. This means that any surplus we generate is used to further our company's activities and to benefit the community we serve. We achieve this by reinvesting in the development of our services, subsidising activities for those who may not otherwise afford to participate, and improving access to our facilities and events.
To ensure the sustainability and growth of our valuable community services, Companion Grove CIC offers paid services.
This approach allows us to generate a stable funding stream that directly supports our mission. By providing high-quality, person-centred services, we can cover our operational costs and crucially, expand our reach to more older adults in Staffordshire, ensuring that our vital companionship and support are accessible to those who need it most. This commercial activity directly enables and enhances our community benefit.
